Description & Services
Information | The Age of Sail is a museum complex consisting of six display buildings, including a re-purposed 1854 Methodist Church; a newer uniquely built ship building; an original working blacksmith shop, 1908 lighthouse, wharf walkway, and more. There is also a café, gift shop, archives and genealogy database as well as a public space for meetings or rentals. Professional exhibits; videos and interpretive tours teaching the history of lumbering, shipbuilding, and sailing history of the Parrsboro Shore as well as the communities that supported them. Archival research is available and genealogical help from our genealogy database of over 50,000 names. Special activities are available for children and self-tour guides in French and German are available. Groups are welcome. |
Eligibility | Pet friendly , as long as pets are under the control of owner either by leash, carrier or in arms they are welcome in the museum and all outside areas, No pets allowed in cafe/gift shop by law. We ask that owners be responsible for the clean up of their pets. |
Hours | May thru October, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm Thursday thru Monday, open 7 days a week in July and August |
Meetings | AGM held in April each year, Board and executive meetings as needed |
