Description & Services
Trail Rating | 2C Nature/Wilderness |
Information | The Wallace and Area Museum has a variety of amenities for visitors to enjoy. It offers visitor information services (when open), free wifi in the parking lot, an enchanting backdrop of floral gardens, an apple orchard and waterfront area perfect for picnics, and seven kilometres of walking trails. The trails vary in difficulty from the Wisqoq Trail (5 minute walk, mostly boardwalk) to the Loyalist Trail (Upturned roots, boggy patches, and the possibility of trees down across the trail) that goes over 3km to connect with the Great Trail. No bicycles or motorized equipment are allowed. |
Eligibility | Ages: 5 year(s) - 110 year(s) Trail maps are available onsite year-round. Bug spray, waterproof footwear, and bringing your own drinking water are highly recommended. |
Hours | Hours of operation for the Wallace and Area Museum: May and June: Monday to Friday, 10am - 4 pm. July and August: Monday to Saturday, 10am - 5pm & Sundays, 1pm - 4pm. September and October: Monday to Friday, 10am - 4pm. November to April: Thursdays, 10am - 2pm. |
Dates | The trails are open year-round on a use at your own risk basis. They are actively maintained during the summer months (May/June to August) but not over the winter. |
Accessibility | The Wallace and Area Museum is fully accessible and there is also a wheel-chair available onsite for visitors with mobility issues. The trails are not recommended for wheelchairs because of upturned roots and uneven patches; however, there is a large backyard and floral gardens on the property that are fully accessible. |
