Information The McDonald Sports Park is situated on 130 acres of crown land and has 7kms of trails, of which 2km border scenic Lake Thomas. The main trail along the lake is the most accessible with hard crusher dust surface and small hills. There are scenic view areas including a gazebo with a picnic table and benches along the route. Some of the other trails offer slightly more technical aspects including larger hills and variable trail surface conditions. Portable toilets at the parking area are maintained regularly. No potable water available onsite.

A perfect get away for walkers, bikers, naturalists, bird watchers, swimmers, paddlers, photographers, family picnics, etc. The summer months are busy with LWF minor baseball league on the HRM field, beach volley ball court, horseshoe pit, bike skills and pump track. During the winter when conditions allow, McDonald Sports Park is groomed for cross country skiing.
